In a significant stride toward improving healthcare accessibility, SKAID Foundation conducted free Medical Outreach from February 14 to 15, 2025, benefiting over 800 residents in Samaru-Zangon Kataf of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to bridging healthcare gaps and fostering social welfare in underserved regions.
During the event, SKAID Executive Director, Mr. Bello Bisalla, emphasized that the outreach aligns with the NGO’s mission to advance social welfare by complementing government efforts and addressing critical community needs. “This initiative reflects our resolve to prioritize preventive care, equitable access to treatment, and health education—cornerstones of sustainable community well-being,” he stated.
The Director reiterated SKAID’s dedication to creating healthier societies through targeted interventions, stressing that healthcare is a fundamental right irrespective of socio-economic status. He further acknowledged the pivotal role of Southern Kaduna stakeholders, whose contributions enabled the provision of essential services, including general medical checkups, maternal and child health support, eye care with free glasses distribution, laboratory testing, medication, and health counseling.
Dr. Silas Amos Bakut, representing the medical team, highlighted the program’s impact: “This outreach empowers residents to access vital healthcare services they might otherwise forgo due to cost barriers. Comprehensive checkups and treatments are being delivered at zero cost, directly improving quality of life.”
The Executive Chairman of Zangon Kataf LGA, Mr. Joseph Bege Gaiya, praised SKAID’s efforts and extended gratitude to its Chairman, Rear Admiral Ferguson Dukas Bobai (Rtd), for his lifelong dedication to public service. “His vision through SKAID continues to transform lives, exemplifying the power of collaborative community engagement,” he remarked.
