The Unveiling of the Foundation and 2024 Scholarship Award ceremony was officiated by Governor Uba Sani, who was represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, James Kanyip. In his speech the governor emphasized the importance of education as a pathway to excellence and urged the scholarship recipients to embrace this opportunity with both hands. He stated: “The path to excellence requires dedication, hard work, and perseverance, but it also brings great rewards.”
Governor Uba Sani further, reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that every child in Kaduna State has access to quality education, regardless of their economic circumstances. He commended SKAID Foundation for the visionary initiative and highlighted that the SKAID scholarship program aligns with this vision and aims to uplift individuals while fostering community development. He concluded his speech by asserting that their administration is proud to partner with SKAID Foundation in building a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
Also, Rear Admiral Ferguson Bobai (Rtd.), Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the SKAID Foundation, in his welcoming address and speech articulated the foundation’s mission to create tangible improvements in the lives of Southern Kaduna residents through various initiatives. He stated: “Every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their socioeconomic background.”
The Chairman further encouraged the scholarship recipients to view themselves as embodiments of hope and inspiration for their peers. He emphasized that their achievements would not only benefit them personally but also serve as a testament to the transformative power of education within their communities.
The program also featured a presentation by Mr. Bello Bissalla, Executive Director of the foundation, who outlined its thematic areas which include education, agriculture, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and ICT. He announced plans for ICT intervention programs aimed at enhancing the skills of students in computer science and engineering disciplines.
Scholarship offer letters were presented to Thirty-Six (36) deserving students. Following that, acceptance speeches by two representatives of Awardees were also featured during the event. The representatives of the scholarship recipients expressed gratitude to the Foundation and promised to make the most of the opportunity given to them.
The event concluded with heartfelt acknowledgments to donors and sponsors whose contributions have made this initiative possible. The Foundation, through Mrs. Sarah Gandu, expressed gratitude for their generosity and commitment to making a difference in the lives of these young scholars.
